CAPACITY UTILIZATION SLIPS IN JUNE

The Capacity Utilization Rate (CUR) in the manufacturing industry dropped by 0.4 points to 77.6% in June, month over month, according to the Central Bank. The seasonally-adjusted CUR (CUR-SA) also dropped by 0.6 points to 77.5% in the same period. Capacity utilization declined in consumer goods from 75.2% to 75.0%, in durable consumer goods from 74.4% to 72.5%, in intermediate goods from 80.0% to 79.6% and in investment goods from 75.0% to 73.5% in June, month over month. Capacity usage remained unchanged at 75.4% in non-durable consumer goods in the same period. CUR figures are calculated by aggregating responses to the Central Bank’s Economic Tendency Survey from 1,771 companies operating in the manufacturing industry.
