UNEMPLOYMENT REMAINED STEADY IN NOVEMBER

The unemployment rate remained unchanged at 11.2% in November, compared to October, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat). The rate declined by 2.0 percentage points to 10.9% in November 2021, compared to the same month last year. The number of unemployed people aged 15 and over increased by 39,000 month-over-month to 3.77 million in November. The employment rate rose by 0.3 points to 46.6% in November, as compared to October. The number of employed people surged by 228,000 to 29.85 million in the same period. The labor force participation rate stood at 52.5%, increasing by 0.4 points. Some 33.6 million people made up the labor force in November, up by 267,000 compared to October.
