CHINA GDP FOR 2021

The Chinese National Bureau of Statistics will release 2021 GDP, which is estimated as 8% by the World Bank.

GERMANY CPI

WEDNESDAY 10AM

The German Statistics Office will announce its December consumer price index (CPI), which rose by 5.3% year-onyear, the highest rise since June 1992.

EURO AREA CORE INFLATION

THURSDAY 1PM

Eurostat will release the December core consumer price index data. The index is expected to be at 2.6%, as it was in previous data.

DOMESTIC DATA

2021 YEAR˹END BUDGET REALIZATIONS

MONDAY 11AM

The Treasury and Finance Ministry will announce December results of the central government budget, thus the 2021 year-end data will also become clear.

HOUSING PRICE INDEX

TUESDAY 2.30PM

The Central Bank will announce the November housing price index, which is expected to show a similar increase as the construction cost index (8%).

MPC ˹ INTEREST RATE DECISION THURSDAY 2PM

The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) reduced the interest rate from 19% to 14% from September to December. Market participants do not expect a cut in this month’s meeting.

NEWLY˹ ESTABLISHED AND LIQUIDATED COMPANIES

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) will release the numbers of newly-established and liquidated companies for December. The number of newly-established companies increased by 9.2% in November.

CONSUMER CONFIDENCE INDEX

FRIDAY 10AM

TurkStat will release its December data. the A slight increase is expected in the index, which was at a record low level (71.1) in November.

ECONOMY LAW PROPOSAL

MONDAY

A four-item bill that postpones inflation accounting until 2023 and brings corporate tax exemption to those who will benefit from currency-protected deposits, will be discussed in the Planning and Budget Committee of Parliament.

MEETING ON HDP MP

THURSDAY

The Parliamentary Constitution-Justice Joint Committee will convene regarding the lifting of the immunity of HDP member Semra Guzel.

CHP CAUCUS

MONDAY

The CHP Party Assembly (PM) will convene at its party headquarters to discuss the postponement of the 38th Ordinary Congress to be held in July for one year due to possible early elections.
