GLOBAL DATA GERMANY CPI

TUESDAY 6AM

The Federal Statistical Office of Germany will announce May consumer price index (CPI) data. Consumer prices increased by 0.7% in Germany in April, while annual inflation rose by 2% compared to the same month of the previous year.

CHINA INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION

WEDNESDAY 2AM

The National Bureau of Statistics will announce May industrial production numbers. China’s industrial production grew by 9.8% in April annually, slower than the 14.1% increase in March.

WEDNESDAY 6PM

The Federal Reserve (Fed) will announce its new interest rate decision. The Bank kept the rate unchanged between 0% and 0.25% in the previous meeting.

EUROZONE CPI

THURSDAY 9AM

Eurostat will announce the May consumer price index (CPI). The eurozone’s annual inflation increased by 1.6% in April.

BOJ INTEREST RATE DECISION

FRIDAY 3AM

The Bank of Japan will announce its new interest rate decision. The bank kept the rate unchanged at -0.1% in the previous meeting.

DOMESTIC DATA HOUSE SALES

MONDAY 10AM

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) will announce May house sales data. House sales increased by 12.41% to 95,863 in April compared to the same month of the previous year.

BALANCE OF PAYMENTS

MONDAY 10AM

The Central Bank will announce April balance of payments data. The current account gave a USD 3.3bn deficit in March, while the 12-month deficit stood at USD 36.1bn.

INTEREST RATE DECISION

THURSDAY 2PM

The Central Bank will announce its new interest rate decision. The bank kept the policy rate unchanged at 19% in the previous meeting held in May.

CLOSED AND NEWLY̞ ESTABLISHED COMPANIES

FRIDAY 10AM

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) will announce May closed and newly-established companies data. The number of newly-established companies in Turkey surged 32.3% in May compared to the same month of the previous year while a total of 3,651 companies went out of business, an 11.4% decrease during the same period.

ECO̞POLITICS CHP CENTRAL EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING

Republican People’s Party (CHP) Central Executive Board members are expected to gather on Monday with the participation of the party’s president Kemal Kilicdaroglu.

NATO LEADERS SUMMIT

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will travel to the Belgian capital Brussels this week for the NATO Leaders Summit to be held on June 14. The most important agenda will be world leaders’ bilateral meetings with the U.S. President Joe Biden. A new roadmap for the Turkey-U.S. relationship is expected to be discussed during Erdogan’s meeting with Biden. The fight against terrorism, S-400s, Turkey’s removal from the F-35 program, sanctions, the Syria, Libya and the Eastern Mediterranean issues, and the USD 100bn trade target between the two countries will be on the table. Erdogan will also hold meetings with Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Greek Prime Minister Kriakos Mitsotakis.
