OIZ waste will come down to Marmara

CHP Tekirdag Representative Dr. Ilhami •zcan Aygun has submitted two separate motions to the Parliament and requested Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli and Minister of Environment and Urbanization Murat Kurum answer his questions. In the motion, Aygun noted how President Recep Tayyip Erdogan talked about putting the Marmara Deep Discharge Action Plan in motion in his November 2020 speech. This project is still not completed but the •rganized Leather Industry discharges 10,000 cubic meters of treated water daily, according to Aygun. When the Marmara Deep Discharge is completed, waste and sewage will pour into Marmara from a total of 10 organized industry zones (•IZ), of which eight are located in Tekirdag and two in Kirklareli, he said. Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Ibrahim •rtas believes that the problem is a pressing environmental issue and urgent and structural measures are needed in the short and long term.
