UNEMPLOYMENT AT 13.9% IN APRIL

The seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate surged by 0.9 points to 13.9% in April on a monthly basis, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat). The unemployment rate increased by 0.1 points to 12.9% in April, compared to the same month of the previous year. The number of unemployed rose by 468,000 to 4.1 million on an annual basis. The employment rate annually increased by 3.9 points to 44.2% and the seasonally-adjusted labor force participation rose by 0.1 points to 51.3% in April, compared to March. Youth unemployment surged by 0.1 points to 25.6 on monthly basis while youth employment increased by 0.5 points to 32% in this period.
